Reliance broadband doing better then the rest

In the last few months I have noticed that on reliance broadband forum, members have started writing good things about reliance which does speak for the fact that reliance is trying to sort their service quality out to create a better image which is good news as India still lacks good internet service providers.
I am yet to get a reliance broadband connection as they still dont have their services in my area and by the looks of it I dont think it will be available any time soon. India broadband forums reliance broadband section is getting some good content these days.. do pop in to check it out.

Sir,
Your Mktg Executive met on 6th Oct,07 for Reliance broadband net connection. By listining all advanced techinical systems I desided to subscribe net conncetion. Your Executive committed to install and connect the net with-in 7 working days. Inspite of calling 4 times a day from 8th day of his commitment there is no proper response or clarity from your people. Baring all this delay, I oversean the post installed problems, finally desided to cancel the installation and called for the same on 7th Dec 07 requested for the refund. Till today (4th Jan 08) neither I received the refund nor a call from your people.

Expecting atleast the refund from your side.

Sub : Complaint against abuse of consumer rights

Dear Sir,

This is to inform you that my internet service got stopped during septmber,2007.
Inspite of continuous request for repairs nobody came from your side.Secondly, I filed an application for termination of services on 5th October,2007, and nobody turned up to stop the connection.Please note that my termination code number is 5653xxxx.

Over and above all this problems I am facing, you are sending me bills of October and November, 2007, which is absolutely unethical dealing.

I request you for the last time, to stop sending bills and telephoning me for bill payment of the services I have not even used, and properly terminating the services.

Then take some time to go to the reliance broadband forum and read some first hand reviews of reliance broadband quality and the level of customer support they provide. If you still feel like going with reliance broadband then good luck. I have not had a chance to use reliance bradband yet but I will surely get a connection as and when it becomes available in my area just to try it out.If you are using reliance please do leave your comments on the kind of service you have recieved till now for all of us to know the reality.

Bsnl broadband trouble

I had installed Broadband connection (Home-250 plan) on 10.08.2007 after waiting for a period of seven months.From the very first day of the installation I am not getting proper connectivity due to fault in my telephone line. I had contacted all the concerned executives many a times but they are always giving false promises. Is this the way of handling a customer?This act of customer handling is contradictory to your Vision/Mission. Many of my friends had already surrendered their BSNL landline because of very poor customer handling. More and more will follow if this sort of treatment is continuing. Therefore, you are requested to take appropriate measure at the earliest so that such customer complaints are addressed properly and promptly.

This was an e-mail I recieved from some one with no mention of why he was sending this to me and there is no sensitive data in here so I am just publishing it here.

Reliance broadband has started wimax services in Bangalore now but have not announced anything for the rest of the nation yet which is really a shame as its not the bangalore which needs internet connections. There are still many parts of Newdelhi which only have one isp and due to the lack of competetion here isp's are sucking blood out of the consumers especially sify broadband who has earned a very bad reputation here where I live but I am still having to use sify due to lack of any other servicve provider.

I applied for a reliance broadband connection about 15 days back and they promised some one will contact me in 72 hours and the connection will be up and running in 7 days.Its been more then 15 days now and no one called up or contacted me, I called thier customer care a few times and was told they have sent another remonder to thier sales team and still no sign of thier sales guy.

Reliance broadband may be good but how would I find out without a connection? I applied for thie connection to review thier services for members of India broadband forum but they havent been able to provide a connection till date.

Reliance broadband is actually now available in my area and I called then two days ago when they promised some one will come around to my place and my reliance broadband connection will be up and running in 7 days time which only time will tell.
Right now I am just waiting for thier guy to come here but there are only 12 hours left for thier deadline of 72 hours which they said.
I have applied for the 300 kbps connection at Rs40 a day (prepaid) which has the same upload speed of 300kbps.

Reliance broadband not available in my area

I am still using sify broadband as my isp as I wait for reliance to show thier face in my area and will get reliance broadband as soon as they start providing services in my area.
Reliance as a company has earned a very good name in India and abroad and is repeating its good customer service record in the broadband services sector aswell.I have a few friends who use reliance broadband are well satisfied with the service they ave been providing so far.
The only problem with reliance broadband at the moment is that they dont have very good packages but the fact that they provide what they sell as opposed to other isp's like sify where internet disconnection once a day is a routine and sometimes for days togther.

India is yet to see the broadband revolution and reliance broadband forum has some good info about whts going on these days.

Reliance india call

I have lived in all three countries where reliance India call has been launched till date USA, Canada and UK and I have had some good and bad experiences with calling cards although reliance india call is not cheaper then the cheapest but the service is excelent and the voice quality unbeatable. I live in UK now and there are options to call India starting from 5p a min and I dont use reliance india call any more, Not that its not good or for any other reason Its just that I like using telestunt which is a tiny bit more convenient and lighter on the pocket aswell but all my friends and relatives do use reliance india call to call India and are happy with the service. One more reason for me not using reliance india call is that I hardly call any one in India and when I do have to I use skype or google talk for free :) .

I would love to hear from people in Canada and States about thier service in there or if you have any comments please do so.

Any one using Reliance broadband in Delhi? I would like to hear from you as I am going to be in Delhi for 6 months so need a steady broadband connection.

Intel focuses India

On May 23 this year, President and Chief Executive Officer of Intel Corporation, Paul Otellini, launched the "World Ahead Program," pledging a global investment of approximately $1 billion.

The Program objective reads thus: to drive digital inclusion in emerging countries by focusing on key areas such as 'Accessibility' or creation of opportunities for the widespread ownership of/access to PCs; 'Connectivity' or expansion of wireless broadband Internet access; and 'Education' or preparation of students for success in the global economy.

According to Intel, it has strengthened its commitment to this program by way of several initiatives undertaken over the past few months.

Some of these initiatives are listed as:

A MoU has been signed between Intel and the Maharashtra State Co-operative Societies Federation [MAFCOCS] to increase awareness regarding IT adoption.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has elected Intel as the chief technology and program management consultant for architecting an "Unwired Pune" by the year 2007.

Along with Reliance Communications, Intel will offer instant, uninterrupted Internet connectivity together with Intel-powered PCs that are sold across the states of Southern India.

After the devastation caused by the Tsunami in 2004, Intel has set up a school in Arkaduthurai near Nagapattinam (worst affected region), and developed community infrastructure as a part of a two-year community involvement project.

Intel India and Microsoft India have announced a collaboration towards the Uttar Pradesh Government's "Gyan Jyoti" Program, which endeavors to offer government employees affordable access to local language based PCs through attractive financial schemes.

The Intel Teach Program launched in Feb 2000 has today spread to over 14 states with almost 6,09,610 teachers having been trained under the program. Besides, higher education programs too have been initiated by the company.

The WiMax Connection 2250 chip has been announced to support mobile WiMax networks.

Intel maintains that through these and other initiatives, the company remains strongly committed to its "World Ahead Program" in the country.

Hyderabad: Reliance Communications announced a joint programme with Intel to offer instant and uninterrupted Internet connectivity that comes bundled with Intel-powered PCs.

What was launched in tier II and III cities of Andhra Pradesh would be replicated in other States.

Internet connectivity in India, especially in the B and C class towns, has lagged behind due to poor quality networks and high access costs. With CDMA wireless connectivity, we expect to bridge both the access and cost gaps, and revolutionise Internet usage."

Reliance Communications has enrolled Intel dealers as point-of-sale dealers across 13 cities to market the new offering.

These dealers sell branded and assembled PCs and laptops using Intel products and platforms. When users buy a PC, they get a fixed wireless phone that promises seamless connectivity.

Surendra Arora, Director (India, South Asia), Intel, said: "Intel's World Ahead programme seeks to accelerate access to new technology and Internet connectivity across India, including C and D class cities. Our collaboration with Reliance would enable uninterrupted high-speed Internet connectivity at affordable rates through our wide channel partner network."

Reliance may start IPTV services by Year End

Reliance Communications, part of Anil Ambani's ADA Enterprises (ADAE) has kick-start plans to roll out Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) services in India by the end of this year. The company is already running trials in 20,000 homes on the TV platform and is in talks with set-top box manufacturers, sources indicated.

Very recently, Microsoft also announced its intention of picking up a strategic equity stake in RCoVL, considering the immense potential that the IPTV business has. Reliance Infocomm has been working with Microsoft since 2003.

RCoVL has laid down 80,000 km of fibre optic network for IPTV services and according to sources the company intends to spend Rs 1,500 crore annually to expand the network. The company is initially in tending to target 200 cities and aims to reach five million IPTV customers.

RCoVL officials, however, were unavailable for comment. On the content front for the IPTV service, ADAE has adopted a strategy of bringing production in-house. The company picked up a 51 per cent stake in Adlabs, a film production and distribution company, last year.

Apart from this, Reliance Capital and Adlabs Films together hold 21 per cent in Prime Focus, a TV and video production facilities company. These acquisitions will give RCoVL more control over the supply of video for the service and also enough content. Reliance Communications was formed last year after the business empire was split between the two brothers Mukesh and Anil Ambani.

IPTV is currently provided by major telcos around the world. Both BT and Deutche Telecom are expected to roll out an on-demand service in 2006. The service is delivered via broadband to your TV (not your PC) via a set-top box at home. It is provided in conjunction with video on demand and may also include internet services such as surfing and VoIP, which would enable to make voice calls. Telcos, both worldwide as well as in India, are looking at IPTV as another revenue generator.

According to a study done by ABI Research, the total subscribers for IPTV may exceed 120 million by 2010 with the Asia Pacific constituting roughly 47 per cent of the total subscribers worldwide. China and India are seen as major markets. The ability to pipe TV content over broadband has the potential to turn the broadcasting, film, advertising, telecom and cable industries upside down as it's an extremely disruptive technology.
